6 Questions to Marcelo Eli

American artist, living and working in Chicago, Illinois.

What did you have for breakfast today?

I had Mexican sausage (chorizo) mixed with eggs.

What is fertiliser for your work?

Honestly, just the materials themselves, but I always like to have books around and have music playing or have a documentary on TV.

Which place is missing you?

I’m going to have to say San Francisco. It’s where I went to art school met a lot of young artists, made good friends. Where I had my first solo show. I haven’t been back since 2011.

Have a beer with an artist of your choice? Whom?

Julian Schnabel
. Because he’s so much of a 20th century painter. It’s interesting to see him react to contemporary art now and continue painting.

What are you doing on sundays at 3pm?

Probably on my couch watching too much Netflix.

Mustard or honey?

That’s like asking Picasso or Van Gogh. You love them for two totally different reasons.
